Art Deco 1.71 Carat Lavender Sapphire Platinum Ring
About the Item
This Art Deco Platinum Sapphire solitaire features an unusual Natural Lavender colored 1.71 carat Sapphire at 7.2mm in diameter, secured in 4 triangular Platinum prongs, creating the optical illusion of a Square solitaire. Accented with finely detailed incredibly precise Hand Engraving with focused detail at each side in place of accent stones.
This Solitaire makes a great focal ring to be worn with stack-able bands as well.
Rare to see an iridescent Cabochon cut stone in a ring from this era, as most contained a faceted stone, traditionally with a central Diamond in this time period, as opposed to a Sapphire in this one. This particular Sapphire possesses an iridescence similar to a Moonstone, with minimal internal inclusions & slight indication of Striation near one prong (inclusions coming up to surface) - simply a characteristic of naturally earth-mined Sapphires.
Prized since 800 B.C., Sapphires have been quite favored in terms of Engagement Gemstones as an alternative to the traditional Diamond. Within the next twenty-five years, approximately 75% of Sapphires on the market will be man-made/lab-created, whereas 50% are currently. An investment that will only escalate in value, with a hardness similar to a Diamond, perfectly suited for everyday wear if desired, in the most durable of precious metals - Platinum.
