Jade Ring in Platinum with Diamonds Certified Untreated Art Deco

About the Item

This magnificent and original Art Deco ring was hand-fabricated in platinum in the 1920s, most likely in America. It showcases a vivid, translucent and even-toned Mason Kay-certified natural and untreated jadeite jade double cabochon of approximately 10.5 mm x 14.30 mm x 4.72 mm. Like all fine jade stones, this one changes throughout the day; at night when illuminated by candles or incandescent bulbs, this wondrous stone becomes "imperial" jade, flawlessly rich with its hypnotic, piano-gloss polish. In daylight, it presents as vivid apple-green. Encircling the fine jade cabochon is a frame composed of eight round-cut and eight baguette diamonds which total approximately .40 carats and supply just the right amount of sparkle and fire around the jade without detracting. These are very white, clean diamonds, G-H in color and VS-SI in clarity. The gleaming white platinum setting is sculptural and elegant—but not fussy—from every angle. Great care and pride of craftsmanship went into crafting this ring. Although the ring bears no maker's mark, it does possess a worn fineness mark reading, "10% IRID PLAT" which was not used after 1930. Jade this fine is a rare treasure, indeed. Jade this green is almost always dyed. Jade this translucent is almost always impregnated with polymers to make it *seem* translucent. But this stone is 100% natural. It's extraordinarily rare to find jade of this quality that hasn't been tainted by the hand of man. This stunning ring is currently a 6.25 but could be resized by your local jeweler, preferably with a laser welder and taking care to avoid heating the jade. What a rare and wonderful engagement ring this would be. But it's perfect on any finger. And despite its delicate appearance, this is a strong and sturdy ring. You can wear it every day. I am not overstating the case by saying that doing so will improve the quality of your life. Glancing down at your hand and seeing something so perfect and rare and exceptional in every way is a wonderful feeling.
