Cartier 4.68 carat emerald-cut diamond ring, circa 1988.

About the Item

Cartier 4.68 carat emerald-cut diamond ring. Set with an impressive octagonal emerald-cut diamond, I colour, VVS2 clarity, with a weight of 4.68 carats in an open back claw setting, flanked by two rectangular baguette cut diamonds in open back rubover settings with an approximate combined weight of 0.40 carats. The total approximate diamond weight is 5.08 carats, to a striking flanked solitaire design with corner claws, a geometric openwork gallery and fancy open backholing, leading to raised shoulders and flowing through to a slightly tapering solid D-shape shank. Tested platinum, signed 'Cartier', circa 1980, accompanied by Gemological Institute of America (GIA) report #6234221266, accompanied by original fitted box. This ring has been looked at by Cartier experts at IAJA (International Antique Jewelers Association), who have suggested the partially rubbed numbering - 'l 02203' likely correlates to Cartier reference 'TO 02203', a special order made by Cartier in 1988.
