Pailin Sapphire and Natural Pearl Ring Certified No Heat French Art Nouveau

About the Item

This magnificent French Art Nouveau crossover toi et moi (you and me) ring was handcrafted near the turn of the previous century from 18K rose gold and platinum. Elegantly formed prongs hold one natural 5.12 mm 3/4 pearl and one .70 carat triumphant blue natural and unheated exceedingly rare sapphire from the Palin region of Cambodia. Possibly you have not heard of a Palin sapphire and this is due to their scarcity. For centuries the area has produced ravishing sapphires that many gemologists believe surpass all but those from Kashmir, with which the stones are frequently confused. The sapphires from Cambodia originated in a volcano and are found in river gravels instead of mines. They are often small but they are spectacular and possess a unique mineralogical signature that differentiates them from sapphires found elsewhere. Political conflict in this region and various other factors have limited the number of these prized sapphires and it's rare to find them in jewelry. The pearl retains its luster and sensuous beauty. There are eight small, white and glittering single-cut diamonds set into platinum, four on each shoulder. The band of the ring is wide and flat instead of round, which makes it supremely comfortable on the finger. A simply perfect engagement ring for the woman who appreciates the rarity and preciousness of the materials used in the creation of this very special ring. It's also quite ideal as a right-hand ring, alone or stacked with others. The blue of this sapphire is a wondrous thing and when you see it in person you will understand why Pailin sapphires are so coveted by those fortunate enough to locate one. The ring is currently a size 7 and could be resized by your local jeweler, mindful to retain the hallmarks.
