About the Item

Deakin & Francis have a 230 year legacy as a business of family-run jewelers and metalworkers based in the United Kingdom. Founded in 1796, the firm has passed through multiple generations, but still retains its creative spirit and innovative designs that are both stylish and contemporary. This estate skull ring is a fabulous design by Deakin & Francis for Hancocks! A bold and unusual piece, the ring is crafted in solid platinum and depicts a detailed skull. The realistic 3-dimensional design is complete with a brushed satin finish, sculpted features, individually engraved teeth, and a hinged lower jaw. Two sparkling diamonds are set within the open eye sockets, and are incorporated into the moveable jaw feature. When the jaw is closed, the diamonds are pushed back within the interior of the skull, hidden from view. When the jaw is opened, the diamonds swivel into place, popping dramatically into view. Each diamond is bezel set and weighs approximately .05ct. The skull is mounted on a sleek and simple band, which completes the stylish design. Stamped on the interior of the band are several hallmarks, which include the initials "CFM," the platinum stamp "950," a Birmingham anchor, and the date letter "K." The hallmark "HANCOCKS" appears on the reverse side of the skull. The ring has a finger size of 5.75, but it could easily be sized if desired. The skull measures 3/4" tall, 1/2" wide, and 1/2" thick. The total weight of the piece is 15.6 grams.

Wear consistent with age and use. The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the platinum setting. The moveable jaw feature is in good working condition, and both diamonds are intact and securely set.
