Edwardian Diamond and Ruby Snake Ring

About the Item

A magnificent diamond and ruby snake ring from the Edwardian (ca1910) era! Crafted in 14kt yellow gold topped with platinum, this fabulous piece portrays a single snake, whose body and tail coils around the finger to form a dramatic and bold ring. The snake's body and tail curls and bends while the head loops around at the center, slithering up the finger. Sparkling old Mine and Full Cut diamonds decorate the front surface, with a single bezel set old Rose Cut diamond resting nearby. Adorning the head is a stunning rich, red ruby cabochon along with two ruby accent stones that decorate each eye, adding a fabulous pop of color to the design. The sparkling diamonds have a total weight of approximately 0.65ctw combined, each one reflecting the light brilliantly with every turn. Fine milgrain work decorates the edges, trailing into a wonderful criss-cross etching that creates a scale-like appearance on the sides of the band. The platinum topped centerpiece trails into a stacked yellow gold band on either side, which wraps around the back, perfectly showcasing the mixed metals appeal. Stamped on the inside of the shank is a "14K" gold purity mark beside a "KSK" maker's mark. A striking piece for any snake lover, it looks fantastic when worn and would make an fantastic addition to any collection! The ring has a finger size 5.25 but could easily be re-sized. The coiled snake body centerpiece measures a little less than 3/4" tall and rests 1/8" above the finger when worn. The band measures 4.5mm wide at the back.

Wear consistent with age and use. The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold and platinum setting. All of the diamonds and rubies are intact and securely set.
