Jade Saddle Ring Semi-Transparent Architectural Setting with Sapphires Certified

About the Item

This is a one-of-a-kind hand-fabricated ring of certified untreated Burmese jadeite jade, royal blue sapphires, and 18K white gold. An architectural scaffolding composed of opposing waveforms is set with two pear-shaped approximately .25 carat royal blue sapphires; the centerpiece is a completely natural, untreated Burmese jadeite jade double cabochon that is nearly colorless with just the faintest tone of light bluish-green. This fascinating (and extraordinarily rare) gem transcends mere translucency to achieve semi-transparency. The jadeite is so clear, you can literally read type through it. This ethereal piece of jade appears at first glance to be a traditional saddle cut, but seen in profile, the true geometry of this exquisitely shaped stone is revealed to be a more complex, asymmetrical wave. It's truly a masterpiece of modern jade carving, every bit as impressive as a carved jade pendant from the 1920s or 1930s but as a study of geometry, line, form, shape, curve. The jade is magnificent in all light and changes throughout the day. I've worn it at several events and it's been noticed and complimented every time but nobody has ever had the faintest idea what it is. I think 99.999 percent of the population does not realize jade comes not only in different colors other than green but that it can look like a piece of ice on a frozen lake. Measuring a sizable 20.13 mm x 10.76 mm, the stone displays a unique luminosity, unlike any other gem. The white gold band of openwork curvilinear forms with widely beveled shoulders would be difficult to resize from its current 9.5. It could be done but you would sacrifice the compressed oval in the rear of the shank. The interior of the band is engraved with two hallmarks: 0.58 c -which surely refers to the total carat weight of the sapphires and "AU 750" which of course refers to the 18k metal fineness. Sadly, there is no maker's mark. The artist chose to remain anonymous—but that's the last thing you'll be when you wear this fascinating and beautiful one-of-a-kind piece of art. This ring ships with a certificate from Stone Group Labs (SGL) stating the jade to be natural and untreated Burmese jadeite jade.
