About the Item
A fine antique Victorian or Georgian mourning ring.
Made primarily of woven hair with an engraved gold band and two diminutive charms.
The band is engraved with floral motifs and holds two small charms - one in the shape of a cross, the other a heart.
In the Georgian and Victorian eras, woven hair art was used to memorialize a departed loved one or given as a keepsake memorial for a loved one in their absence. This ring clearly kept someone dear in an intimate proximity.
Simply a wonderful piece of mourning jewelry!
