The Wolf Mask is on her head, the Wolf's teeth completing the Diadem and to the lower left is the profile of a Wild Boar and above is the Mask of Silenus, his beard becoming part of the Wolf's ruff, thus the circle is complete. This type of Intaglio is called a Gryllus, which is a Magical Stone and it's origins are lost in antiquity. The Intaglio has above it a Latin Motto which translates as
"TRUST, BUT BE CAREFUL OF WHOM YOU TRUST"
This is a very fine carving executed upon a richly glowing Carnelian Stone and dating from the early 19th century. The later 18k Gold Mount circa 1890
