Post Medieval Signet Ring, circa 16th-17th Century

About the Item

Post Medieval signet ring. Composed of an oval plaque featuring a finely engraved image of a thistle with stalk and leaves, the initials 'LI' in engraved in reverse to either side and a curvilinear design to top, leading to trumpeting shoulders and flowing through to a solid shank. Tested yellow gold, approximately 9 grams in weight, circa 16th-17th century. Accompanied by documentation from the Portable Antiquities Scheme stating that this ring was found near Hannington in Hampshire. It is recorded with the Portable Antiquities Scheme under reference BERK-D99F81, and disclaimed under the Treasure Act 1996, reference 2021T15.
