About the Item

A men's diamond ring like no other. Featuring a 3.78-carat Marquise-cut faint yellow (O-P) diamond that has been graded VS1 in clarity, this bold and impressive ring was created in the middle of the previous century (circa 1950s). The Art Deco-inspired design features an additional 16 triangular step-cut diamonds set beneath the main stone. These are near-colorless (H-I) eye-clean (VS-SI) diamonds and add up to another carat. They lend this ring the iconically good looks of Manhattan's most elegant Art Deco skyscraper, the Chrysler Building. The main diamond has the spread of a 5-carat diamond, which makes the already impressive ring even more impressive. The GIA only grades loose diamonds. And removing this diamond from the mounting was simply too great a risk. EGL will grade diamonds in their mounting but they will never give a clarity grade higher than VS1 and they will always give a two-letter color range. The clarity of this diamond is actually closer to VVS1. The stone measures 14.94mm x 8.60mm x 4.98mm and has a 69% table and a depth of 57%. The girdle is very thin to medium and is faceted. The culet is small. The diamond has a very good polish and good symmetry. All of which is clearly stated in the full EGL diamond jewelry report that ships with the ring. Hand-crafted in 14K white gold, the ring bears no hallmarks of any kind. Even though it was originally created for a man, anybody can wear it. A powerful, charismatic, one-of-a-kind masterpiece. Currently a size 8 3/4, this ring could be resized by your local jeweler. It ships with the EGL report.

One triangular diamond has a crack that appears to have originated when the diamond was installed and it has remained stable for over half-a-century so I would not recommend replacing it.
