A Russian gilded silver, pictoral, and champlevé enamel spoon, by Imperial court silversmith-jeweler Khlebnikov, Moscow, circa 1890. The spoon in traditional shape of late sixteenth- and seventeenth-century implements, the back of the bowl enameled en plein with a peasant beauty in fur cloak wearing a bright blue kerchief over her pearl-set kokoshnik, with a turquoise champlevé enamel border, the handle of good weight with multiple knops at either end. Struck with maker’s mark with Imperial warrant and 88 silver fineness standard, equivalent to 916. Length: 5 1/2 in. (14 cm).
