A stunning quality sterling silver card case. Early Victorian period example by Nathaniel Mills. The castle top design is of The Scott Memorial. The memorial was built in 1844 in memory of Scottish author Sir Walter Scott and stands in Edinburgh. Hallmarks ; lion, Birmingham anchor, date letter U for 1844, Queen Victoria's head and makers initials for Nathaniel Mills Size ; 72mm x 101mm approx Weight ; 72.7 grams Condition ; Very good for age. Stylish piece. Very crisp pattern throughout. No repairs. Clear hallmarks. Good hinge, closes well. Very small dents to one corner. Initials have been engraved to the cartouche in 1911.
