Set of Four Victorian Silver Salt Cellars

About the Item

A set of four Victorian silver salt cellars, each designed as scallop shell bearing chased leaf decorations in the rim, with gold gilt interior and foliate design base, made by Daniel & Charles Houle, London 1853 & 1855, gross weight 28.5oz, Should you choose to make this purchase we would be delighted to send it to you in a Bentley & Skinner handmade leather case packed in a gift-wrapped Bentley & Skinner black and gold presentation box. Shortly afterwards we will send you on a valuation for insurance purposes for your reference and safekeeping. This ornate set of Victorian salt cellars comes from the collection of Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to His Majesty the King. These salt cellars are each designed as a detailed scallop shell with further floral and foliate decorations. The interior of each salt cellar is gilt, which whilst affording protection to the silver from corrosion provides a lovely contrast to the silver exterior. These salt cellars would be a perfect addition to a dining table.
