Large Antique Sheffield Silver Plate Divided Serving Tureen & Dome Cover

About the Item

A very fine antique Sheffield silver plate service piece. A rare and complex serving vessel comprising a handled base with removable liner that allows for warming (or cooling), a 4-section removable divider, and a hand hammered round dome or cover. The edges have gadrooned decoration, and the dome has a twig form handle. Oval plaques now cover what were presumably monograms or crest devices. Simply a terrific tureen and cover that is both beautiful and multi-functional! Date: 19th Century Overall Condition: It is in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition. Condition Details: There is a slight wiggle in the cover's handle, some persistent spots of tarnish (particularly around the cartouches), some slight pitting here and there, some very light dings or indentations here and there, some fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. Marks: Unmarked Measurements: Diameter: ca. 13 in. Height: ca. 10 in. Items purchased from this dealer must delight you. Purchases may be returned for any reason for a period of 7 days.
