Dial: An excellent original white enamel dial fully signed Chronometre Royal Vacheron & Constantin Genève with Roman numerals outer minute track and subsidiary seconds dial with original rose gold coloured spade hands and matching seconds hand.
Case: A heavy 18ct yellow gold case with the case back having an engine turned back with a round vacant cartouche. The cartouche has the intinials AC engraved in Art Deco style. The inner cuvette is fully signed. The cases are fully Swiss hallmarked numbered and have the V&C stamp and cross.
Movement: The gilt fully jewelled signed and numbered movement with compensation balance micrometer regulation and wolf's tooth winding, making this a great example of Vacheron' s craftsmanship.

An Edwardian pocket watch by George Stockwell & Co.
An amazing and very beautiful piece, created during the Edwardian period, back in the 1911. The movement was made in Switzerland and the case by the London importer and retailer George Stockwell & Co. This ultra thin elegant pocket watch was crafted in solid .925/.999 sterling silver end embellished with a radial guilloche engine turned finish, topped with a purplish-blue hot enamel. Accented on both sides with floral patterns and round frames in white enamel. It is fitted on top with a movable ring to wear in a chain or a fob and two hinged lids, one of them with a semi-bombe crystal for a 30mm open face.
Dial: Silvered on a radial guilloche, analog with black Arabic numbers, black batons and blued steel hands. Secondary dial for the seconds. Inscribed in Spanish, Cronometros Escasany.
Movement: Is 28mm size 3/0, Mechanical and hand winding with onion crown. Case reference number 8725, movement serial ref; 920700.
Weight: 60.95 Grams, (39.08 Dwt).
Measurements: 62 mm by 47.3 mm by 10.5 mm (2.44 x 1.86 x 0.41 Inches).
Hallmarks: Stamped with British crown marks; the importer sponsor mark GS associated to George Stockwell & Co., the mark for the assay of the .925 silver, the serial numbers. the gothic letter Q for the year 1911 and signed, "GS .925 TAVANES WATCH CO. 8725 920700 CRONOMETRO ESCASANY S.A..".

Stockwell & Company were carriers and shipping agents with their head office at 16 to 18 Finsbury Street, in London, with many depots around the UK. They were part of a European wide network of shipping agents called Messageries Nationales. Howard’s creativity helped establish the principles of industrialization and standardized parts. Howards watches were rugged and very accurate as well. Their case designs were innovative as well. The earliest pocket watches were luxury items, and, owing to cost, they weren’t commonplace until the 19th century. Artfully crafted pocket watches were a symbol of wealth, and manufacturers such as Vacheron Constantin and Patek Philippe became known for theirs. At the onset, pocket watches resembled small round table clocks, and pulling your small round table clock — perhaps of the silver variety — out of your breast pocket in front of someone else demonstrated unequivocally that you cared about punctuality. For collectors, pocket watches are big, and that means a larger canvas provided for functions without crowding the dial. For example, the Marius Lecoultre pocket watch — made circa 1890 — does everything but uncork your wine.
In the late 1800s, the open-face pocket watch became a staple on the American railroad. It was a requirement for railway workers to wear a pocket watch, as the timepieces were responsible for keeping conductors on schedule. This was a boon to the watchmaking industry, with companies like Hamilton, the Elgin National Watch Company and the Waltham Watch Company producing high-grade and workingman’s watches.
By the 1930s, wristwatches comprised the bulk of watch manufacturing in America, superseding the pocket watch. Suddenly, if you wanted to know the time, you merely glanced at your wrist. But given their vintage charm and our general appetite for good design, pocket watches are a piece of statement-making jewelry and today can prove complementary to your formal attire in a manner that is stylish and unconventional.
