Hunt & Roskell. A Rare Small Sized 18ct Yellow Gold Quarter Repeater Keyless Lever Full Hunter Pocket Watch C1873. Dial: The superb white enamel dial, Roman numerals with outer minute track. The dial is interestingly signed between eleven o'clock and one o'clock Hunt & Roskell London. Usually the name was always signed in the middle of the dial under twelve o'clock. The original blued steel spade hands complimenting the dial beautifully. The dial is protected by a Mineral glass. Case: The 18ct yellow gold case with plain front and back covers. The inner cover is plain with no engravings. The cases are English Hallmarked for London 1873. The case maker is AS, Alfred Stram who was a pre-eminent case maker of his time, working for all the top watchmakers of that era. The repeater slide is located at the two o'clock position. The handset button is located at the four o'clock position. Movement: The super three quarter plate movement fully signed Hunt & Roskell 156 New Bond Street London. The fully jewelled with screwed in chatons, straight line lever escapement with compensation balance, fast slow regulation, blued overcoil hairspring and most unusual wolf's tooth winding system inset on the black plate. The watch chimes the hours and quarters clearly. Hunt & Roskell had a long and renowned involvement with the jewellery, watch and silver business long established in one of the finest shopping streets in the world, New Bond Street. They had the Royal warrant of Queen Victoria and many other Royal families across Europe. This is indeed a fine and rare pocket watch with no monograms or inscriptions on the cases.
