About the Item

Extremely rare and important John Chance pocket watch, Chepstow, about 1775. The watch, of the "onion watch" type, is in exceptional conservation conditions. The dial and hands are original and absolutely intact. The outer casing, elegantly embossed, represents a biblical scene, and is signed and stamped. The movement, with verge and conoid escapement, is in perfect working order, signed and numbered. For conservation and rarity it is a small museum piece ... Gross weight of the watch: gr. 109.93 Measurements: diam. 55 mm. thickness 24 mm.
