With its understated rectangular silver face and timeless case with uncommon and distinctive tear drop lugs, it showcases a classic and elegant vintage Patek style. This watch has the quiet confidence that makes small vintage Patek Philippe watches so appealing. Its rectangular 18K white gold case has softly concave sides, faceted shoulders, and slim sculpted ends that give it more presence than its measurements suggest. The 18K white gold gives the watch a cooler, rarer look than the yellow gold version of the same reference. Powering the watch is its illustrious 8'''80 handwound movement, unquestionably among the finest hand-winding ladies movements ever built. Patek designed the extremely high-grade movement to maintain very accurate timekeeping even across a wide range of temperatures, five positions, and even amounts of power left (isochronism), something only the highest top tier of mens movements could do. Except for some ladies pieces made by Patek Philippe and a few of the highest level ladies movements from a couple other top echelon manufacturers like Audemars Piguet, it was virtually unheard of quality for a women's movement,. It is one of the very few women's watches that is truly on par with the very top-tier of men's watches. The silvered dial is a wonderful part of the watch's character. Applied dot indexes frame the dial, while raised Arabic numerals at 12 and 6 give it a balanced, unmistakably vintage Patek look. Its unsigned vintage steel mesh bracelet gives the watch a supple, period-correct jewelry feel, while its 14K white gold diamond-set holders create a graceful transition from bracelet to case. The result is cooler and more dimensional than a simple strap watch: white gold, steel, silver dial, and diamonds all working in the same restrained palette. It has all of its original parts down to its hands and signed crown and presents beautifully. Its case presents in excellent condition and retains a crisp hallmark on the side. Its silver dial, which looks original to the naked eye but may have had an expertly done restoration in vintage times, is in excellent condition with only light aging. It retains raised enamel printing. And its movement, stamped twice with the prestigious Poinçon de Genève, is extremely clean. One of our Master Watchmakers, who used to be the watchmaker for an authorized Rolex dealer and was given special training by Rolex at their Beverly Hills Service Center to be an authorized Rolex watchmaker, has fully serviced the watch which consisted of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, re-pivoting the upper balance, installing a new mainspring, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $995 value). It is running strong and true, keeping time on par with a new Patek in our testing recording position. For the finishing touch, we have equipped meticulously detailed it making it ready for immediate enjoyment. A vintage Patek Philippe that can be worn as a piece of fine jewelry without giving up the substance of a serious mechanical watch.
