Our photos couldn't do it justice. It circa dates to 1969 where it might have laid next to the Speedmaster Professional that would be headed to the Moon. Its case has a classic design with fantastic faceted lugs. Once you look past the case, the emerald green dial serves the centerpiece. Its light sunburst soliel finish matches the case finish and provides pleasing continuity. Under changing light it moves from deep green to light, the radial brushing catching the light in a way that feels almost liquid. Powering the watch is Omega's top-tier caliber 565 movement used in Seamasters from the era, and one of the last superior 500's series movements used before Omega began trying to reduce their costs It was the top tier offering of the 500 series. It has 24 jewels and a quick-setting date and was one of the finest mass-produced automatic movements from era. It measures 34.5mm, which is in between the size of the Rolex Date and the Rolex Datejust. It has just finished a true expertly done restoration. It has all of its original parts down to its Omega signed crystal. It presents in gorgeous restored condition - it presents as 9.8 out of 10. The case, with its slightly unusual faceted lugs, presents as beautiful mint with only very slight signs of previous polishing. Its original Omega dial has been meticulously custom refinished in emerald green - the printing could pass as Omega factory done to the naked eye. Its color is deeper and richer than the photos suggest. As part of the restoration, the very fine caliber 565 movement with fine swans neck regulation has been overhauled by a Master Watchmaker. We have also timed it on a machine that simulates it being worn on the wrist. It is running strong and true, keeping time nearly on par with a new Omega in our testing recording position. For the finishing touch, it has been equipped with a new aftermarket calfskin leather strap with aftermarket Omega style buckle making it ready for immediate enjoyment. It’s a celebrated part of Omega lore that the brand’s Speedmaster Professional Chronograph was the first watch to make a lunar landing. But the universal love for vintage Omega watches isn't confined to astronomers, and there’s more to the company’s heritage than the story of the Moonwatch.

The house’s origins date to 1848, when Swiss watchmaker Louis Brandt first set up shop. His sons Louis-Paul and César took over after his death, and in 1894, the pair developed an intriguing new movement.

Not only was it highly accurate, but every part was replaceable, making it easy for any professional to service. The Brandts called their movement the Omega, and as its popularity spread, they changed their company’s name to that of its flagship product.

In 1917, the British Royal Flying Corps designated Omega as an official supplier, and during World War II it became the principal watch supplier for the British forces and their allies. These commissions further strengthened Omega’s commitment to ensuring its products’ reliability under extreme conditions. In 1948, it launched the versatile Seamaster. Thanks in part to its rugged reputation and Omega’s links to the British military, it became James Bond’s watch of choice in 1995, appearing in GoldenEye and every succeeding Bond movie; it returned in 2021’s No Time to Die. Nevertheless, the most famous Omega by far is the Speedmaster, introduced in 1957. The first chronograph to display its tachymeter scale on the bezel instead of the dial for easier readability, it was quickly adopted by engineers and scientists.

Worn by Buzz Aldrin during the 1969 Apollo 11 lunar mission, it’s the only watch certified by NASA for extravehicular activity (space walks) — and, as far as we know, the only one approved by the Russian space agency, too.
