Today's offering showcases this retro styled example of one of Omega's classic vintage Seamaster double quick-setting watches in gorgeous restored condition with bordeaux wine dial.
The 1970s produced some of Omega's most distinctive designs, and this Seamaster is a wonderful example of why collectors are beginning to gravitate more toward the era. It combines the reliability and everyday practicality that made the Seamaster line famous with the bold styling language that defined the decade.
The result is a watch that feels unmistakably vintage language of the 1970s. That is precisely what makes it so appealing today. It is authentic to its era, yet stylish enough that it never feels dated.
It has a classic tonneau Omega case with angular lugs, distinctive dial, removeable original bracelet, day and date functions and caliber 1020 automatic movement.
Once you look past the case, the wine bordeaux dial with light sunburst finish serves as the centerpiece. The watch's original Omega dial has been beautifully custom refinished in a rich Bordeaux Wine sunburst finish. Inspired by the deep, velvety reds of a fine Bordeaux, the color carries subtle plum undertones that become more pronounced as light moves across its finely brushed surface.
The result is a warm, sophisticated hue that offers exceptional depth while remaining refined and understated.
Here are some of its features:
* Pioneering "double quick-set" day and date features - Omega created the caliber 1020 and 1022 movements with a double quick-set capability for convenient setting of the day and date. Though many connoisseurs associate the idea of the double quick-set watch with Rolex, which first offered the President model with this "new" feature in late 1990, Omega was a pioneer of the technology in large scale production watches, evidenced by this example made about a decade before.
* Full size retro case - Its diameter is 36mm, the same size as a Rolex Datejust.
* Elegant bordeaux wine dial - In person its color is a rich, deep color - even more so than the photos suggest.
* Uncommon Omega bracelet - Its bracelet has a distinctive style and is one of the much less common bracelets from the era. Its angular quality complements the case very well.
* Faster beat (28,800 bph) balance system for greater accuracy
It has all of its original parts down to even its original Omega waterproofing seal.
It had just finished a true expertly done restoration and presents in gorgeous condition - the watch presents as a 9.7 out of 10. On the wrist it presents like new. Our photos couldn't begin to do justice to its condition.
Its case presents as mint. It has perfect high polished facets.
Its original Omega dial has been meticulously custom refinished - the printing could pass as Omega factory done to the naked eye.
And its bracelet shows only light stretch - these were designed with a loose structure. Its finish presents as mint.
As part of the restoration, a Master Watchmaker has overhauled the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing any overly worn components, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (an $895 value).
It is extremely very strong and true, keeping time on par with a new Omega in our testing recording position.
