Another wonderful marble sculpture, unsigned, but part of a series by P.Jencik, circa 1998 This taller sculpture in Post-Modern style, which we have titled No.3, is carved from a single block of Bianco Carla marble and has attractive grey veins throughout. As with all his sculptures, Jencik alludes to human, animal and natural forms without allowing us to reach a definite conclusion. His work is playful and mysterious. Another wonderful marble sculpture, unsigned, but part of a series by P.Jencik, circa 1998. This Postmodern two toned work has a fascinating kinetic quality. It was sculpted by hand in Carrara White and Tinos Green marbles, which had been laminated to form a block. Contemporary Japanese red, blue and gold lacquer box of unusual arching form and heavy, carved construction by the known lacquer artist Yoshifumi Takeuchi. Decorated on its lid with an inlaid mother-of-pearl finial and overall vibrantly coloured with blue and red pigmented lacquers with scattered gold flakes on its sides and interior, the box still bears its exhibition label for 'The World Competition of Arts and Crafts Kanazawa 1999', where it was entered as the 50th lacquer exhibition entry and was entitled 'Sunrise'. Yoshifumi Takeuchi was born in 1951 in Toyama prefecture. Now a known and well established lacquerware artist, he studied lacquerware crafts under Yasu Onaga before branching out under his own name.
