Provenance: These Four Panels each bear a label which reads, "Panels from set of painted hangings formerly in the Octagonal Room of the Beekman Mansion, 1st Ave and 51st Street, New York City. Lent by the Beekman Family Association, 1938"
This references the former "Mount Pleasant" also known as The Beekman Mansion which was built by John Beekman on the East River in 1763. The Mansion served as the British Headquarters during the Revolutionary War and was the site of the Trial of Nathan Hale.
