I designed this Belgravia townhouse for a rock-music mogul obsessed with 1940s New York, so it seemed obvious to reference the work of Dorothy Draper, one of my favorite decorators of that period. The over-scale plaster work, the black and white lacquer, the extensive use of mirror, and the earthy palette sharpened with zinging colour resulted in interiors that paid homage to the client’s preference, and created an ideal setting for his collection of contemporary art.
