Old World: a Chestnut Hill estate
Family Home by Studio Dykas in Chestnut Hill, MA
The facade of this 1920's Chestnut Hills home remains unchanged but unsalvageable interiors required complete renovation to bring them into the 21st century. Starting from scratch allowed the creation of a visual vocabulary bridging the history of the structure and the modern lifestyle of the new owners.
New additions create a contemporary connection between the interior and the extensive property beyond. A wall of French doors open the newly built living room pavilion to a .garden with specimen trees. A glass 'orangerie' houses the kitchen, bringing in natural light and views of the wooded surroundings.
