Ripple Effect

Family Home by Harry Heissmann Inc. in New York, NY

It was a rare occasion when a repeat client asked us to develop a 'Gesamtkunstwerk' approach for the Principal Bedroom floor in a townhouse, consisting of a Bedroom, a Bathroom and a Dressing Room. The concept was based on the Ripple Effect, water hitting water and the resulting pattern of concentric circles. When we presented to the client, we had hand drawn the Dressing Room and other elevations and used our trusted markers, some metallic - to illustrate the concept. These drawings were then given to Miriam Ellner to execute the Dressing Room panels in Verre Eglomise. The Bathroom panels were done in wheeled glass, the Bedroom walls in ribbed Venetian plaster, Edward Fields classic 'Terra' carpet in custom colors and when we couldn't find a suitable blue stone in the quantity we needed, we ended up backing white onyx in electric blue... 'Gesamtkunstwerk' completed! We'd like to thank all our collaborators - it always takes a village! It's great to have ideas but even better to have the artists and artisans to execute them.
