Ben Gorham

Founder, BYREDO

A native Swede, born to an Indian mother and a Canadian father, Ben Gorham grew up in Toronto, New York and Stockholm. He graduated from the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm with a degree in fine arts, but a chance meeting with perfumer Pierre Wulff convinced him that he would prefer to create fragrances rather than paintings. In 2006, Gorham founded BYREDO. Manufactured in France, Sweden or Italy with a distinct emphasis on craft, BYREDO's scented candles and perfumes have reflect an understated approach to fragrance design, using simple compositions and the highest quality raw materials. The brand is also known for its impressive roster of creative collaborators: artist studio M/M (paris), photographers Inez & Vinoodh, contemporary artist Carsten Höller and hair stylist Christiaan Houtenbos. Sold in over 39 countries, BYREDO has expanded to include a collection of handbags and small leather goods under the label Nécessaire de Voyage. Gorham has been recognized for his work and personal style by titles that include French Vogue, Vanity Fair, Elle, V Magazine and Fantastic Man.
