Joy Venturini Bianchi
San Francisco–based fashion fixture Joy Bianchi is known for her bold sense of style — she's rarely seen without her signature black-rimmed eyeglasses — and dedication to the developmentally disabled. Volunteering for the San Francisco-based charity Helper's since its inception in 1953, Bianchi founded Helper’s House of Couture, in 2008, with all proceeds benefitting the cause. Named one of the 10 best fashion stores by Vogue in 2010, this showroom boutique houses high-end designer garments donated by stylish individuals and celebrities from around the world. In addition to founding Helpers House of Couture, Bianchi has during her 62-years with the charity, opened three residential homes for the developmentally disabled and a workshop in San Franciso's Ghirardelli Square. In celebration of her commitment, a retrospective will be held honoring Bianchi and her personal collection of timeless, museum-quality garments — including pieces by Alaia, Balenciagia, Dior and Valentino — which she has promised to bequeath to Helpers at the end of her life.
