About the Item
Airy expressive brushstrokes in soft gray and sky blue float across the canvas in this contemporary painting by Sasha Rogers. For the last fifteen years, the Canadian artist has explored the idea of a ‘horizon line’ that divides the colour field of each composition. The effect is mesmerizing as the eye sees beyond that ‘landscape' towards an almost infinite view.
Rogers' artwork has been influenced by William Turner, Mark Rothko, Agnes Martin, Antoni Tapies and her own father, the celebrated sculptor and painter, Otto Rogers. Her inspiration is often drawn from the beauty of the natural world.

Sasha Rogers acquired a Bachelor of Fine Arts Honors in Drawing and Painting at the University of Saskatchewan. A Master of Visual Arts in Painting followed at the University of Alberta where she received the highest distinction given for outstanding research in visual arts. Rogers taught painting and drawing at both the University of Saskatchewan and the University of Toronto. She has had numerous solo exhibitions in Canada, has attended international art fairs and her artwork is held in many corporate collections nationwide. Private collectors span the globe including Canada, the U.S., and Europe.

Sasha Rogers
Sasha Rogers, daughter of premier artist Otto Rogers, received her master's degree in painting in 1987 and was a painting instructor for 12 years. She has been primarily focused on solo exhibits and international art fairs and is in numerous private collections in Canada, the USA and Europe. Rogers' works have been influenced by the work of William Turner, Mark Rothko, Agnes Martin, Antoni Tàpies and her father, Otto Rogers. What collectively draws her to these great artists is their dedication to evocative metaphors rather than literal descriptions. Rogers states, "They invite rather than prescribe."
