Notes: From the folio, Raoul Dufy, IV, Collection Pierre Levy, 1969; published by Fernand Mourlot, Paris; printed by Mourlot Frères, Paris, November 4, 1969. Excerpted from the folio, This album, the fourth in a series dedicated to Mr. Pierre Lévy's collection, was printed in M examples on Arches vélin. The printing was finished on November 4, 1969 by Mourlot for reproductions of the canvases of Raoul Dufy, and by Fequet and Baudier for the unpublished text by Marcelle Berr de Turique. RAOUL DUFY (1877-1953) was a French painter associated with the Fauvist movement. He gained recognition for his vibrant and decorative style, which became popular in various forms, such as textile designs, and public building decorations. Dufy is most remembered for his artwork depicting outdoor social gatherings. In addition to painting, he was skilled in various other fields, including drawing, printmaking, book illustration, scenic design, furniture design, and planning public spaces. Dufy was in the milieu of Matisse and Picasso.

Presented in a custom frame measuring 30 ½ x 36 ¼ inches. Image size is 16 ½ x 23 ¼ inches. About the Artist: Born France, 1887 Died New Mexico, 1979 Andrew Dasburg was born in Paris, but emigrated to New York City in 1892 with his mother. A childhood sickness left him lame, and his artistic propensities were first recognized by a teacher at the crippled children’s school. She enrolled him in the Art Students League in 1902. There he studied under Kenyon Cox, Frank Vincent Dumond, and Birge Harrison. Later, he began taking night classes from Robert Henri at the New York School of Art. Dasburg spent 1908-1910 in Paris, where he was introduced to the great impressionist painters Matisse and Cezanne. Inspired by the work of the European modernists, Dasburg returned to the United States, where he moved to Woodstock, New York.
