Original lithograph printed in black ink on Arches wove paper. Signed and dated on the stone lower right Picasso 23 mai 50 A superb trial proof impression (one of only two such proofs recorded by the Picasso Project); apart from 6 proofs of Mourlot’s first state, and the signed and numbered edition of 50 of Mourlot’s second and final state (plus proofs). Also aside from the poster edition. Annotated in pencil in the margin lower left “188 entre 1 et 2 etat”. Commissioned as the illustration for a poster advertising the 1950 International Youth Conference to Ban Atomic Weapons. Published by the review Les Partisans de la Paix; printed at Atelier Fernand Mourlot, Paris.
