About the Item

Antique, Art Nouveau bronze of a beautiful maiden in the Neo-Classical manner by Emmanuel Villanis, Circa 1900. The bronze, titled "Phryne" depicts a beautiful Neo-Classical maiden, titled to the front on the socle. The bust meant to be an interpretation of the ancient Greek beauty Phryne, daughter of Epicles and a model of a number of ancient Greek artists/sculptors. The bronze made by the lost wax (cire perdue) method and having the circular Parisian foundry mark to the vesro and signed "E. Villanis" to the shoulder. The bronze having the original patina and is in excellent condition
