French Liquor Cellar, 19th, Napoleon III

About the Item

French liquor cellar, late 19th century, Napoleon III This cellar is an extremely refined storage box, full of ingenuity. It has a unique and authentic style. It contains four bottles with caps and sixteen small faceted glasses but not only. On each side of the display stand is a cigar box. The glasses are easily extracted from their interior which helps to keep them in good condition. The box rests on four small brass legs. The box is rectangular in shape. It opens from above and has a drop-down facade. We thus discover a display intended to serve alcohol. The artist who made this small piece of furniture selected pear tree that he blackened and that he raised brass inlays to give it a flirtatious and refined look. The key opens and closes this object. All the French bourgeoisie had in the nineteenth century this small piece of furniture pledge of a certain wealth. Today it is a beautiful decorative object that arouses admiration. It can however be used to taste fine liquors especially at the end of a festive meal.
