Goldscheider Art Déco Dancer In Butterfly Dress, by Josef Lorenzl, Around 1928

About the Item

Rare Goldscheider Art Deco ceramic figure of the 1920's: Young dancer with pageboy hairstyle, leaning slightly forward and looking to the right, putting her right leg forward and holding the high slit skirt with butterfly decoration like wings with her arms stretched out to the sides. On a beige and brown beveled and stepped round base, artist's signature 'Laurenzl' on the back at the hem of the skirt. Designed by Josef LORENZL (1892 - 1950), who was an Austrian sculptor and ceramic modeler. His bronze statuettes often show graceful dancers with long legs and closed eyes. Lorenzl designed numerous ceramics for Friedrich Goldscheider and Keramos and was one of the most popular artists of Art Deco.
