Austrian Moorish Revival Enameled & Engraved & Bejeweled Brass Three Fold Mirror

About the Item

Stunning, very rare and marvelous workmanship antique table mirror. If you are looking for great antiques with a high decorative and aesthetic value then this unique, three fold mirror could be the perfect addition to your interior or collection. We have never seen a mirror like this and when we first saw this piece we were immediately stunned by the beauty and amazed with the workmanship. It must have taken one (or more) highly skilled artisan weeks if not months to hand create this piece. Mind you, before all the scrolling patterns were hand painted, they were first all hand engraved. If you take in all the various details and materials in this piece then you get so much respect for the skills, the dedication and the patience the artisan(s) must have had. In our view it also take a lot of confidence and courage to even contemplate taking on a project like this. We believe this is an Austrian (probably Viennese) piece that was made for the Moorish or Arab market. Because of the brass base, the three mirrors, the enameling and the hundreds of (probably glass) gemstones this is a relatively heavy piece for its size. However, it can still perfectly be used both standing on a table or on the wall (as shown in our images). If you look closely then you can see that there are a few gemstones missing and some of the thin enameling has crumbled. However, to us that takes nothing away from the uniqueness, beauty and impressiveness of this one of a kind antique. No matter how and where you decide to have it on display, this mirror will never fail to impress. We found it hard to price this antique, because we have nothing to compare it with, but at our fair price we believe that this piece too is, again, great value for money. Also, because perfect packing and worldwide delivery from our store to your door in just 4 to 6 days are included. Maximum height x width x depth when closed and standing: 15.55 x 13.4 x 8.7 inches. Width when fully opened: 24.8 inches. Width x height per beveled mirror: circa 7.8 x 8.8 inches. We have a passion for the unique, for quality, for stylish yet practical and for craftsmanship of years gone by. Your purchases will be extremely well packaged and we look forward to serving you (again). You can shop all our 1000+ listings by pushing the button that reads 'View All From Seller'.

  • Late 19th or Early 20th Century Chinese or Chinoiserie Gilt Ormolu Table Mirror
    Located in Lisse, NL
Highly decorative and rare table mirror with classical Chinese decor. In all our years in this trade we never came accross an antique, Chinese table mirror. Since we cannot find another one anywhere in the world, we have nothing to compare it to. This makes it hard for us to determine whether this mirror was actually made in China (possibly for export) or that it is European made in the time when the chinoiserie style became popular. Mind you, 'popular' in those days meant that only the rich started decorating (parts of) their homes with this new exotic/oriental style. The two Chinese male figures depicted in the frame seem to be performing some kind of ritual. Apart from practical to use, this extremely decorative antique table mirror has many more Chinese style elements that make it a true pleasure to own and look at. Displayed on a sidetable, dresser or vanity this handcrafted, antique talking...
