Victorian 15k Repousse + Garnet Mourning Link Bracelet
About the Item
A stunning and artistic bracelet from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This jaw-dropping piece is crafted in 15k yellow gold and is comprised of a series of articulated bike chain-style links. The centerpiece of the bracelet features a large deep red garnet cabochon in a gold bezel, perched on a setting created out of the same repousse links you can see throughout the bracelet. Beneath the garnet cabochon is a small compartment that holds a delicate lock of hair tied off with a gold thread. The repousse detail has a lovely swirled motif, adding incredible dimension to the design. Each figure-eight-shaped link features a fine repousse design on the surface, which provides beautiful texture! The piece fastens with a simple push clasp at the end, and a safety chain with a repousse link provides extra security when worn. A wonderful example of the Victorian era's aesthetic, this bracelet would make a special everyday accessory!
Measurements: The bracelet measures approximately 7" long and would fit nicely on a small to medium-sized wrist. The central link measures approximately 1" wide, square. The garnet cabochon measures 3/4" in diameter.
Condition: The overall condition of the bracelet is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or repousse detail. The garnet cabochon is secure in its bezel. The clasp fastens securely and the safety chain is in good working condition. The locket compartment is secure and the glass is not scratched or cracked. There is a natural patina in the grooves of the design, which is normal for antique jewelry and adds depth to the design.
