Excerpt from interview with Voyage LA: "I studied theater design at New York University but always wanted to be a painter. The painting I was drawn to make was a hybrid of both painting and sculpture. My first one man show in New York were abstract paintings covered in sand. My second one may show in New York were paintings on chalkboards with texts. I’ve had one man shows in Zurich, Tokyo, and Istanbul. Afterward, I felt stuck; an artist’s block had come over me. I turned my attention to raising my daughter and focusing on her becoming an artist. Julia Adolphe is now a successful contemporary classical composer...

  • Golden Lore IV - contemporary mixed media collage gold abstract
    By Russell Frampton
    Located in London, GB
This recent body of work is informed by my continuing research into the physical and metaphorical nature of archaeological artefacts and votive objects, allied to the referencing of the symbolic forms and materiality of alchemy. Central to this practical investigation has been the use of ‘gold’, and the qualities that the material, with its obvious chromatic and symbolic values, seems to possess. This has driven both the conceptual and pragmatic concerns within the evolution of this work. Gold is an alluring and complex symbol of many, often conflicting meanings, avarice, greed, wealth but also of purity and celebration, and has been used as the adornment of spiritual and religious iconography as a devotional act for millennia. The titles refer to connections I have made with the forms themselves, often when making a painting a word will emerge which acts as a form of poetic catalyst. ‘Parsival’ or Percivale/Peredur was the knight questing for the holy grail...

  • Prada & Champagne - Large Black White Gold Figurative Painting Party People
    By Zabel
    Located in Los Angeles, CA
Guided by her passion for life and her spirit, French Canadian painter Zabel creates vibrant artworks filled with romance and immersive textures. With a belief that art is all about feeling, she creates magic and captures the moment by infusing her art with strong emotive qualities. Zabel communicates each scene with precision. Her work evokes the Impressionists, but depicts modern love and adventure. Couples stand at bar top tables sipping aperitifs. Bartenders and piano players help to break the ice among palm trees and cityscapes presented in vibrant, dripping hues. The energy of social butterflies drawn to one another is palpable as they float effortlessly across the canvas. This 60 inch square painting is wired and ready to hang. Zabel uses gold leaf in this painting. The sides of the artwork are painted black and it does not require framing. The artist signs the painting on the back as well as the front lower right corner. Free local Los Angeles area delivery. Affordable U.S. and global shipping options available. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included. Using only spatulas, every artwork communicating her story is full of visceral energy. She plays with a strong, vast color palette and creates a unique ambiance in her artworks. Her inspiration never ends; from chic and glamorous lifestyles rendered in gold and silver to neon summer vibes, you can feel the vibrancy of her life’s travels and colorful experiences. For several years, the artworks of Zabel have seduced Quebecois from across provinces, earning her several awards. Zabel’s paintings are now catching the keen eyes of collectors internationally. From New York to Japan, across the USA from California to Miami, and all over Europe, her love story is only beginning.
