1940

About the Item

Letter from Orfeo Tamburi to Countess Pecci Blunt is an invitation letter for the collective of the rising Roman group composed by Guttuso, Guzzi, Montanarini, Ziveri, Fazzini, Tamburi, held at the Galleria di Roma in January 1940, inaugurated by the Minister of National Education Giovanni Bottai. L.A.S. also signed by Renato Guttuso, Luigi Montanarini, Pericle Fazzini, Alberto Ziveri, addressed to Countess Pecci Blunt. Rome, February 3, 1940. A page, front and back, 20 x 29 cm. Perfect conditions. "An exhibition that, according to us, was a success in many aspects. Especially for the fact that Rome did not see for a long time a successful painter who had something serious to say." An important exhibition of the new "realist" mood of the mixed Roman School, certainly expressionist, which break with the official artistic movements of return to order, the “20th Century and Plastic Values”. Final notes of sentimentality because "they all said that this was an exhibition for “La Cometa" theatre", which had closed and moved to America.
