Barzakh series (2015)
The language of mythology and religion, Barzakh is what separates life after death and before resurrection. For others, it’s the grave. In geography, it is what separates the sweet rivers from the salty seas, without their mixing. Barzakh is the dream that separates sleep from vigilance; the soul that separates body from the mind; and, the human that separates existence from nothingness. If two things connect, then separation is not absolute. Barzakh allows transit, like a mirror between the body and its image.

Mohamed Monaiseer
Mohammed Monaiseer’s (b.1989, Cairo, Egypt where he lives and works) drawings and paintings resembling heritage craft, delineate mystical and transcendental concepts such as, alchemy, metaphysics and oral histories. The obsessive-like repetition observed in his works comment on the potency of a word or figure after it has been multiplied and reproduced ad nauseam. The shroud-like raw forms of fabric, canvas, and paper add to ethereal notions of parapsychology and the intricacies of human consciousness and spirit Monaiseer explores in his work. To Monaiseer, this extensive handiwork is akin to rituals, with repetitions turning into meditations. Monaiseer received his BA in Educational Art and MFA from Cairo University.

The trinity consists of Energy, Nature, and Source. Energy is located in the heart, where faith and belief originate. The Source is anything that creates: God, the mind, the sun. Nature is material, offering us the tools to make and destroy. The three principles connect, communicate and converse with one another to form the ecosystem in which the human being lives, breathes and works, dependent on the interplay between the elements. The trinity is the value of life. Mohamed Monaiseer (b. Cairo, Egpyt 1989) gives body and form to immaterial phenomena with works of drawing and painting.
