Portrait of Two Collie Dogs- British Edwardian dog art oil painting animals

Circa 1910

About the Item

This British double portrait of two collie dogs is simply gorgeous. Painted circa 1910 it is indistinctly signed but may be by K Pearce. The composition is the head and shoulders of two black and white collies, both looking to the left with rapt attention, eyes and noses glistening. The detail is superb, see the whiskers and hairs of their coats and the intelligent look in their eyes. One can clearly see the dog on the left is older, with a greying muzzle and curlier coat and of course they are both smiling, as only dogs can do. If you are a dog lover, these two are going to steal your heart! Indistinctly signed lower right. Provenance. Suffolk Estate Condition. Oil on canvas laid on panel. Unframed size is 20 inches by 19 inches approx and in good condition. Frame. Housed in a lovely complementary gilded Watts frame. Framed size is 28 inches by 27 inches and in good condition.
