This piece is a dramatic battle scene featuring the first president, George Washington. It includes a war snow scene with revolutionary soldiers placed around the hilled landscape. The darkness of the clouds and of the snow conveys a very smoky tone that shows the work and the exhaustion of the war. The stance of George Washington shows his power and strength during this hardship surrounding him, as his stance is very sturdy and he is the only soldier who is very defined and on a horse. The color palette of this painting is very strong and bold, showing the such dramatic emotions of this war scene. his painting is unsigned, however is likely an American artist and is an oil on canvas.
