Very fine original oil painting by Henry Armstrong Whittle (1834-1904), signed to the lower right. The painting dates to 1872. It is entitled on the reverse, "Early Morning" and we understand the location depicted to be Loch Lomond, Scotland.
A beautiful example of this English painters work, who came from Liverpool (his address added verso to the painting). Whittle is a well listed and popular artist of the 19th century, who painted the Scottish and English landscape with great success.
Excellent details and painted with wonderful tranquility.
The painting - oil on board - is framed and measures in total: 16 x 23 inches.
