Orange And Bordeaux Composition is an original color lithograph realized in 1963 by Serge Poliakoff. The artwork is hand-signed by the artist on lower right, and numbered in pencil on lower right.

Serge Poliakoff (January 8, 1900 – October 12, 1969) was a Russian-born French modernist painter belonging to the 'New' Ecole de Paris (Tachisme). After studying in Moscow and London, he left Russia in 1918 and lived in Sofia, Belgrade, Vienna, and Berlin until 1923, when he decided to stay in Paris. He was converted to abstract art by the examples of Robert Delaunay and Wassily Kandinsky. Poliakoff exhibited his first abstract painting in 1938 at his premiere Salon des Indépendants; he received the Kandinsky Prize in 1947. Solo exhibitions appeared at New York, Brussels, Kunstmuseum St. Gallen, Switzerland, Tel Aviv Museum, France (1974); Milan. After suffering a heart attack in 1965, he began working on smaller format canvas and lithograph. Poliakoff died on October 12, 1969, in Paris.

Serge Poliakoff was a Russian-born French modernist painter belonging to the New Ecole de Paris (Tachisme). His father, a Kyrgyz, supplied the army with horses that he bred himself and also owned a racing stable.
