Christine Ravaux
Christine Ravaux is a Belgian artist, who uses nature in much of her work, which is both hyper-realistic and abstract in pattern. She was born in Charleroi, in 1961. She studied printmaking at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, in Brussels and the Etterbeek Academy of Arts, where she learned more specifically, the black-way in the workshops of Mauritius Pasternak and Anne Dykmans. She received the Prix du Hainaut, in 1994 and the prize of the 1997 annual competition in the artistic creation of the Royal Academy of Letters, Sciences and Beaux-Arts of Belgium. Ravaux's mezzotints mirror her surroundings. She has portrayed the black hills that dot the landscape of the Belgian mining city, in which she lives and has captured the shadows and shapes created by the grasses and trees of her own backyard. Her close-up look, at the ordinary things around her, is just as effective when viewed as abstract compositions of form and light. Her work was awarded the first prize at “IBIZAGRAFIC ’92”, the prestigious Spanish Biennial, which prompted a solo exhibition of her mezzotints and the publication of a monograph. In 1994, she was selected for inclusion in “Intergafia ’94”, World Award Winners Gallery in Katowice, Poland.

- Restaurant in Mott StreetBy Charles Frederick William MielatzLocated in New Orleans, LAThe image depicts a restaurant on New York's Mott Street with ornamental iron work on the balconies. There are six figures in the scene in various stages of contrast. Mott Street is considered the unofficial Main Street of New York's Chinatown. Ella Fitzgerald sang it best: “And tell me what street compares with Mott Street in July? Sweet pushcarts gently gliding by.” CFW Mielatz was an early influence on the drypoints and etchings of Martin Lewis. This piece was created in 1906 and it is signed in pencil. It is part of the collection of New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art C.F.W. Mielatz American, 1860-1919 Born in Bredding, Germany in 1864, Mielatz emigrated to the United States as a young boy and studied at the Chicago School of Design. Mostly self-taught, his first prints were large New England landscapes reminiscent of the painter-etcher school of American Art. Around 1890 he started to produce prints of New York City and by the time of his death, the number totaled over ninety images. He was a master technician in the field of etching, reworking many of his plates to get the exact feeling he was seeking. Mielatz was a member of the New York Etching...Category

- La Colegiata Toro (Romanesque Santa Maria la Mayor/Zamora province Spain)By John Taylor ArmsLocated in New Orleans, LAJohn Taylor Arms created this superb architectural image of La Colegiata in 1935 in an edition of 153. It is #12 in his Spanish Churches series and is referenced as Fletcher #284. One of the most characteristic examples of transitional Romanesque architecture in Spain, the church of Santa María la Mayor is inspired by the Cathedral of Zamora, in turn inspired by the Old Cathedral of Salamanca. The tower-dome is usually listed as one of the four most typical in León together with those in the cathedrals of Salamanca, Plasencia and Zamora. The church was begun around 1170, and was finished in the mid-13th century. Two different directors of the work have been identified, according to the different types of stone used (limestone in the old sections, sandstone in the most recent ones), and by the barrel vaults...Category

- Wings over America Air Corps US ArmyLocated in Spokane, WAOriginal poster: Wings Over America. Artist: Tom Woodburn. Archival linen backed in very good condition. Original fold marks touched up during linen backing. Ready to frame. (all U. S. Government World War II timeframe posters were folded and mailed out across the nation.). These original fold marks are not considered a flaw. The image on most monitors should render the true color of this poster with the ivory borders, brown feathers of the eagle, the red-orange of the text, and the center of the stars. The artwork was done in 1939 but the poster was officially printed in 1941. You can sense the speed of the aircraft in this image with the small white trails ¬¬¬¬off the wings and the contrast in size of the eagle in size to the planes. Tom Woodburn. A Texan who had studied art and architecture, Tom Woodburn was commissioned in the Infantry a month after the U. S. entered World War I. He hopes it will never have to enter World War II. He created the recruiting posters before the start of World War II and his incredible designs were instrumental in helping encourage the enlistment of soldiers making the U.S. better prepared. The image comprises three surfboard-style sections depicting New York to Brussels and to the Heart of Paris via Sabena, Belgian World Airlines. Sabena, short for Société Anonyme Belge d'Exploitation de la Navigation Aérienne, was Belgium's national airline from 1923 until its bankruptcy in 2001. Sabena produced numerous vintage travel posters during its operational years to promote tourism and its flight routes. One notable poster is titled "Fun Brussels, Helicopter to Paris."
