Faun - Vintage Poster - Picasso Exhibition in Milan 1953

1953

About the Item

Amazing, giant offset print from the exhibition Picasso at the Real Palace, in Milan, in 1953. Edition of 1000 copies. Catalog: Christoph Chwiklitzer, Picasso, Plakate, n° 75, p. 314. Good conditions. The paper sheet of the poster is slightly darker on the margins. This rare and precious poster mounted on canvas, edited by Attilio Rossi, is one of the giant reproductions of some of Picasso’s artworks that were exposed in Milan. The subject of this poster is the smiling Faun (“Faune Souriant” in French), taken from the original lithograph dated 1948. The poster was expressly realized for the famous exhibition held in Milan in 1953. This exhibition is considered one of the most important Italian solo exhibitions of the Spanish painter. For this extraordinary event, the Real Palace also exhibited Picasso’s masterpiece Guernica in the suggestive location “Sala delle Cariatidi”, unfortunately devastated by World War II bombardments.
