Circa 1950

About the Item

This sophisticated sculpture was realized from lymed French oak circa 1950. The perimeter of the piece consists of a mosaic of rectilinear blocks, while the interior rectangular panel is composed of a patchwork of square forms each with two inset ovoids alternately facing vertically and horizontally. This wall hanging reads as both very much of the time and place, but is also distinctly modern. With its austere forms that showcase the inherent beauty of the woodgrain, this sculpture is as versatile as it is aesthetically compelling, blending perfectly with any style of decor from classic Mid Century Modern to contemporary. This piece can be oriented either vertically or horizontally. Excellent condition. France, Circa 1950 Dimensions: 25"W X 43.5"H X 1"D
