Alvin Robert Raffel born on December 25, 1905- D. 1987) Dayton, Ohio. Son of Herman John and Pauline Louise (Kromann) Raffel. He studied at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts and a BA in fine arts in 1933 at the Artist Institute of Chicago under F. DeForest Schook. He was a lithographer for Gartner & Bender in Chicago from 1925 until 1936. Lived in Dayton, Ohio in 1939 as a lithographer for Reynolds & Reynolds. Instructor of watercolor painting at Centerville High School and an Instructor of drawing and painting at Dayton Art Institute.
