Alfred Pollentine moved from London to Italy in the mid-19th century from where he became one of the most prolific and popular English veduta painters of 19th century Venice. Between 1861 and 1880 Pollentine exhibited the British Institute and the Royal Society of British Artists in London.(Biography provided by Academy Fine Paintings)
