Audra Weaser Landscape Paintings

American, b. 1967

Audra Weaser was born in Fullerton and raised in Southern California. She earned her MFA in painting from Claremont Graduate University and has exhibited extensively since then. Her work is in private and public collections throughout the world, from New York and San Francisco to Hong Kong, Abu Dhabi and Singapore. Weaser states that “Nature in an abstracted or reflected state has always been an inspiration for me. Specifically, the moment at which a connection is made or appears between exterior and inner reality. And it is this powerful, but an elusive moment that I aim to convey in my paintings. To achieve this effect, I start by building layers of paint over loose charcoal sketches. As the composition emerges, I refine it to a certain point, then obscure it with a veil of white until the initial colors disappear. From there, I excavate through the layers to reveal a dynamic contrast between color and form." She currently lives and works in Los Angeles.

Orange, Hawkweed, and Montana Agate
By Sarah Winkler
Located in Denver, CO
Sarah Winkler is a British born, American contemporary landscape painter who has lived most of her life abroad in countries such as Malawi, Africa and Brunei, Borneo. She has lived in the US since 1989 and has spent over two decades living and working in California and Colorado. She studied Art and Earth Science at William Paterson University and combines both subjects in her landscape and environmental artworks. The artist is best known for her monumentally scaled, color rich, luminous paintings that interpret the geological storied past and eventful present of the formation of the American wilderness landscape. She incorporates ground water, crushed rock and materials from the landscape in her paintings to create moments of connection, exploration and discovery. Winkler has exhibited in solo and group shows nationally in galleries, regional museums and art fairs since 2004. Her work was recently showcased at the LA Art Fair, Art Aspen and the Jackson Hole Art Fine Art Fair. In 2019, Winkler was selected by US Ambassador, John Pommersheim and the curators of the Art in Embassies program to participate in a 3-year International exhibition at the Ambassador’s residence in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. Winkler was also invited to exhibit at the Colorado Governor’s Residence in Denver. Her artworks are in many private, public and corporate collections. These include The Phoenician and Mountain Shadows Resort, Paradise Valley, AZ. The Hilton West Palm Beach, FL. The InterContinental St Paul, MN. The Cosmopolitan Hotel of Las Vegas. West Texas Plains
By Kristin Moore
Located in New Orleans, LA
In this new series of paintings, Moore explores themes of wanderlust and memory. From glowing neon signage, to sprawling landscapes and unique architectural elements, this exhibition is a visual road trip from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. These paintings stem from Moore’s personal travels and open up a collective conversation about wanderlust. In these works, she revisits her former home of Los Angeles to shed a new light in juxtaposition to the bare California desert and the opulence of Las Vegas. This exhibition reflects a shift to new subject matter as well as a new artistic chapter that has been evolving within her work over the last two years. Moore’s process has progressed to become larger in scale, and more delicate in detail. This series of paintings offer trompe de l’oeil moments in combination with gestural brush stokes that reveal the artists hand. With a more increased focus on architectural elements, this exhibition amplifies features that were often muted in her earlier landscapes. With the exhibition title “All Those Who Wander”, Moore is leaving an option for the viewer to place themselves in the wanderlust narrative, or to observe it from afar. Moore believes we have a collective desire to explore and, in turn, we often daydream about our travels. This often creates a dream-like quality to our memories which results in a romanticized narrative within our minds. The reality of a place often doesn’t matter, it’s the memory of our experience there that sticks with us. We often like to sit a little longer with the most romantic and the most opulent visuals we have in our minds. Beginning with Los Angeles noir, the viewer is introduced to old Hollywood architecture blended with images reflecting the known edginess of the city. Familiar Hollywood landmarks are explored in a new light and we are left with a subtle sense of nostalgia as the viewer moves through the works. The bright desert landscapes lead into the “in between”; these are the lands that are on the way to somewhere else. Just as important as the beginning or the end, the transitional parts of a road trip often leave space for the most enriching moments of pause and reflection. The series finds a finishing point with the bright, opulent Neon Boneyard...
