"Wellfleet, Cape Cod, " Gerrit Beneker, American Impressionism, Provincetown
By Gerrit Beneker
Located in New York, NY
Gerrit Beneker (1882 - 1934) Wellfleet, Cape Cod, Massachusetts, New England, 1926 Oil on canvas 20 x 16 inches Signed, titled, and dated lower left Provenance: Louis H. Barnett, Fort Worth, Texas In 1905, Gerrit Beneker began his art career as an illustrator. He married Flora Judd, his high school sweetheart from Grand Rapids and they moved to Brooklyn, NY. Gerrit's early passion was to create an art that would inspire and provide honor to the workingman. As such, he had no interest in painting portraits of pretty women, which were so often seen on the magazine covers of the day. Rather he wanted to seek out workingmen on the bridges, tunnels and skyscrapers of NYC, and paint them in their environments. He completed over 150 magazine covers, numerous ads including many for Ivory Soap...

Contemporary Oil of Art Deco Home Decor w/ Blue Masculine Statue in Drawing Room
By Linda Blackburn
Located in Fort Worth, TX
Blue Statue, 2020 "For Blackburn, the Western’s heroic drama, good-versus-evil narrative, and assertive landscape are challenges to face in her work. These aspects of film can overwhelm a painting, thus distancing the viewer from the art. She wants the art to be dominant; “Painting wins,” she declares. She finds this happens when a painting possesses what she terms “classical balance.” By this the artist means that everything is where it needs to be compositionally—nothing can be changed—and “the whole can be seen at once.” Linda Blackburn...

Christ Carrying the Cross, Old Master, Flemish, De Vos, Religious Scene, Rubens

The scene of Christ carrying the cross is imagined in a rocky landscape. Two soldiers press the cross onto his shoulders, another leads him, holding the rope. A line of soldiers and prisoners moves from right to left. In front of them the three Marys kneel and pray for Christ. A nursing woman, symbol of Caritas, sits in the right foreground. Some dogs and playing kids enliven the scenery. Simon de Vos was born in Antwerp, and was first taught by Cornelis de Vos...
